Waris Lighting: Crafted Heritage, Illuminating the Future
At Waris Lighting, we specialize in bespoke lighting design and custom solutions that illuminate spaces with purpose and elegance. While the name "Waris" was established in 2002, our roots in handcrafted lighting and artisanal metalwork stretch back over 200 years in Hailsham. Guided by tradition and driven by innovation, we blend timeless craftsmanship with modern design to shape the future of light.

Waris Lighting has been creating bespoke lighting solutions for over 20 years and has earned a strong reputation for craftsmanship, innovation, and quality. This short film offers a behind-the-scenes look at how we design and produce our tailor-made lighting pieces that serve luxury hospitality, commercial spaces, art installations, and architectural projects around the world.
EARLY BEGINNINGS
In the late 1990s, in a modest workshop tucked away in Foshan, Guangdong, a skilled craftsman named Mr. Wei founded what would later become Waris Lighting. Initially focused on hand-forging decorative metal lamps, his studio gained a reputation for precision craftsmanship and attention to detail in a time when most lighting was mass-produced.
By 2003, one of Mr. Wei’s apprentices, Ms. Li, branched off to create her own studio, pushing the boundaries of custom lighting by incorporating glass-blowing and mixed materials into bespoke chandeliers and wall sconces for boutique hotels and private residences. Though small, her workshop lit up design expos with its originality and elegant detail.
In 2007, a new generation of artisans and designers came together, uniting under the name Waris Lighting. With decades of collective experience and a shared passion for made-to-order brilliance, Waris evolved into a full-service non-standard lighting manufacturer—serving global projects in hospitality, commercial architecture, and artistic installations, while remaining rooted in its handcrafted legacy.

EXPANSION
Waris Lighting entered a phase of rapid growth in the early 2010s, fueled by the global rise in demand for bespoke lighting in luxury hospitality and commercial design. Their ability to combine traditional craftsmanship with flexible, customized production gave them a strategic edge in a market that increasingly valued uniqueness and artistry.
In 2015, Waris acquired a smaller, high-precision glass workshop in Zhongshan, known for its artisanal glassblowing techniques. This was followed in 2018 by the acquisition of a decorative metalworks studio specializing in brass and aluminum finishes. These strategic moves were aimed at expanding Waris’ design capabilities and securing in-house production resources to support large-scale, complex international projects.
